October was a month packed with travels for us at Up-fuse. We got to be in three different cities for three exciting events that we’re quite proud we were part of.
First stop: Hamburg, Germany
Up-fuse partner Lama El Khawanky dropped by Hamburg on the 3rd of November to be part of Mochni’s Conscious Loft; a 1-day event all about sustainability and women entrepreneurship.
Mochni is an online platform wholly dedicated to conscious living and conscious fashion, featuring brands and entrepreneurs who believe in such values as strongly as they do. Conscious Loft is their event series through which they aim to connect people behind the sustainable industry with their clients in real life, allowing for real genuine engagement. The event was full of woman-led sustainable brands in a variety of industries. To name a few, there was: Habibitat (accessories, Germany), OrganiCup (menstruation cups, Denmark), Pukka (tea, UK), Seepje (detergents, Netherlands), in addition to many other cool brands.
Lama introduced Up-fuse and got to network with the many like-minded entrepreneurs over there. The program included various talks about different topics related to sustainability; from fast fashion to starting a conscious business. Lama came back to the Up-fuse office in Cairo with her very own Mochni goodie bag packed with loads of delicious vegan snacks and other cool products like the reusable wax cloth by Gaia and reusable cotton swab by LastSwab.
Second stop: Dubai, UAE
Up-fuse took part in Dubai Design Week for the second time since 2016! The exhibition’s name was MADAR and it lasted from the 11th of November till the 16th. The exhibition’s aim was to raise awareness about regional design and provide a platform for artists and art lovers to connect.
Third stop: Paris, France
Our co-founder Yara Yassin was part of the third edition of the Arab World Institute Forum on the 25th of October – “Ecological Initiatives in the Arab World” – giving a speech about all things sustainability. The Forum’s main focus was climate change and the ecology of the Arab world. Yara shared the story of how she co-founded Up-fuse with an audience of 300 people and various other sustainable business owners.
