RECLAIMED EXHIBITION

Reclaimed was born from a shared question: What if waste could be more than a byproduct, and what if it could become the beginning of something inspiring?

For years, Up-Fuse, Jotun, and Soil Spaces had worked separately toward more responsible design and production practices. Up-Fuse specialized in transforming discarded materials into functional, human-centered objects. Jotun, a global leader in paints, grappled with the challenge of managing its own packaging waste. Soil Spaces explored how spatial design could shape the way people create, collaborate, and feel within their environment.

What began as a simple conversation quickly grew into a purposeful collaboration. Jotun opened its waste streams, providing hundreds of plastic paint buckets, metal containers, and plastic bags provided by Up-Fuse, that were otherwise destined for disposal. Up-Fuse explored how these materials could be reshaped, reworked, and reborn through craft and innovation. Soil Spaces envisioned a space where the transformed material could serve not only as structure and furniture, but also as a storytelling tool. Every surface, texture, and seating element became an opportunity to express the possibility of change.

As the project unfolded, the team began to recognize the deeper meaning behind the numbers:

478 plastic paint buckets
60 metal containers
303 plastic bags
234.9 kg of CO₂ emissions saved

These materials were not simply counted. They were reconsidered. Their dents, scratches, and irregularities became part of the design language. The goal was not to hide the material’s past. It was to honor it.

The result is Reclaimed, an upcycled creative workspace that shows what collaboration can achieve when environmental responsibility and imagination work together. It is more than an exhibition. It is a living example of circularity, a space where people can sit, think, work, and create while surrounded by waste that has been transformed and given a new purpose.
