STARTING A MOVEMENT
Up-fuse began as a pre-master's project for myself "Yara" and my best friend, Rania. We were eager to create positive change and pursue careers that aligned with our values, seeking an alternative to the traditional corporate path. We both deeply appreciate handmade crafts and the art of material exploration.
During our travels, we collected souvenirs and often named our backpacks after the cities we visited. This experience sparked the idea of creating unique and personalized travel companions. We were driven by a strong desire to empower women in the workforce and create meaningful employment opportunities for marginalized communities.
Our journey was inspired by a deep concern for the devastating impact of plastic pollution on the environment and a vision to reduce waste in meaningful ways. We set out to create a product that was not only functional but also unique, standing apart in both purpose and design.
In 2015, Lama joined as a partner. The three girls changed that abstract idea and it manifested into an environmentally and socially conscious brand which applies a slow-fashion model, reducing waste through ethical production and supporting local artisans and women who endure harsh conditions.
